Women have always had a weird relationship with their body hair. It can be because of social, religious, or personal reasons why most of us do not want hair on our bodies. As a woman, I support it and the Hair Removing Techniques out there.

Now if you are pro body hair then please don’t bash me, this is a personal preference and is not intended to convince your opinions. I do love being hair-free. It feels super smooth and clean to me. For the face, well, I do not want to have a beard and mustache like men. It just feels weird to me.

When I was like 10, I had a couple of hairs in unibrows. You know what I did? I took my dad’s razor and simply tried to shave it off. The result was that I shaved half my eyebrow. When my mother asked me, I blatantly lied to her that I did no such thing!

I hope I was born in this day and age where painful and skin-stretching waxing is not the only solution to get rid of unwanted hair.

I understand the tedious and painful process of waxing, and let’s not forget it’s expensive if you want to get it more often than a month. Throughout the years, I have found many ways to remove unwanted hair. And I have tried most of these devices myself. Here are a couple of them that you should try too.

  • Epilators

The first and foremost of these is the age-old epilators. They are almost as old as hair-removing creams themselves. However, as old as they are, they are super painful as well.

Epilators have these tiny mechanical tweezers in them that pull out each hair. However, since it runs on an electric motor, it happens faster than you think. For epilators, the longer the hair, the better. Unlike waxing, it can still work for tiny hair as well.

They feel like a thousand knives pricking you at once. Every time I used to take out the epilator, I got PTSD for pain and I would get goosebumps. Now this would help my case. While epilation is quite precise and you rarely miss out on the hair, it does take its sweet time.

Once that pricking/stabbing feeling would numb after about a minute, it would be okay. However, I do not at all recommend using it on your bikini line because you might die.

My hair has always been very soft when it comes to the body. But for those who have strong hair, you will go through pain and tears will flow out.

In all fairness, I am not exactly against them minus the pain. They have such a good effect that it took longer to regrow the hair than with usual waxing. At least that was the case for me!

A good epilator usually has a blade machine with it to make the hair short for less pain and more precision and I recommend those.

  • Hair removing creams

Spoiler alert, there is no way I will ever advocate for hair-removing creams. However, it is my job to tell you the pros and cons of it as per my experience.

Almost all women have used depilatory creams. These do not go beyond the skin. They do not absorb in the skin, they do not go to the follicle even.

Hair-removing creams simply kind of melt the base of the hair which is why you can simply scrape it out of your skin.

Of course, just like everyone else, hair removal creams have been very convenient for me to use. They are not the fastest, but they did take me about 20 mins for the entire body, which was cool. But the work is too much and it did get expensive.

The regrowth has been slower than from shaving, but compared to epilation and waxing, I have found quick growth when I used them.

Before you run to the market to get some hair-removing creams, you should note the risks. The biggest risk is the chemicals. People with sensitive skin should avoid these creams at all costs. It is always a good idea to do a patch test.

There are not many hair-removing creams made for the genitals, if you opt to use them, then know there are huge risks like even cancer – more so for women than men. (Yes, men can remove hair too)

Many companies have special areas of the body for a different kind of cream so if you choose to use them, use them wisely. And finally, never wear jewelry when using this cream. I usually have a couple of silver rings on my fingers, and once I forgot to take them off, they corroded! Bad experience!

  • Threading devices

Threading is once again an age-old method of hair removal. However, it does target the face. But not anymore! Some of these threading claws are so easy to use and target bigger areas of the body.

I have never found the need to do my brows. However, I did want to remove those three hairs that grow between my brows and those few stubborn strands from my upper lip. I have never used threading as an option though.

Just recently, I bought a claw threading machine and that was the day I realized that threading is pain, man! In fact, I used it about twice and the third time, I went to the salon to get a professional to do it for comparison, and the conclusion was the same. Threading is not for Quratulain Qaseem.

Threading is considered advantageous for the face as hot wax can burn, cold wax can injure, and let’s not forget the stretching that goes into the skin. The hair regrowth is slightly slower than it is with blades.

  • Blades

Instead of categorizing the different kinds, I’m putting all the kinds of blades under one roof. The first is the most common tinkle teaser. These are simple blades that are so fine that they even help shave off the peach fuzz.

I love tinkle teasers for a quick and clean solution. However, just with all sorts of shaving, the hair does come back faster. The good part is that because the blade is so fine, it does not come back thicker because the cut is not very diagonal which helps keep the surface area of the tip smaller.

Another kind of blade is these micro-blade machines. I have loved the use of these. They do not even require the effort of moving as they run on their electric motor. The blades are very fine and they do not bring hair back thicker. For some reason, I did not see a quick hair growth after using these. However, I am sure that the hair does not come out of the follicle. For a chubby face like mine, it did not cover the face quickly either.

Trimming epilators are so-called, but they are also like machine blades. Using them on the bikini line is quite reasonable. They cover the perfect amount of surface area and are pain-free. Moreover, they are designed to keep you safe compared to professional shaving. They have attachments of smaller blades for brows and upper lips too. The hair does not grow back thicker, but they do grow quicker with this machine.

Regular razors – even if they are designed for women, have my lowest vote. These are simple razors that leave your hair with a bigger cut without precision in areas such as around the ankle. The hair grows back seemingly thicker and for me, within a day!

Conclusion

As alternatives for waxing, these are the simplest forms of hair removal. Which ones have worked for you? Let me know!

Remember, that I have tried all of them, and all these mentioned, are my opinion!
