Whether you are a child or an adult, celebrations are a way to get together with your family and have a fun time. Birthdays, anniversaries, welcome parties, baby showers, or even Eid, you name it. If you look hard enough, life will always give you a reason to be happy and celebrate with your loved ones. And there are always party decorations to enhance the fun!
If you want to add a little color to life, then you definitely need some decoration items. The everyday balloons, streamers, and banners are good. But, what if we told you, you could spend on some long-lasting décor items that you can reuse over and over in all different kinds of events and celebrations?
Don’t worry! These are not gold-made items that you will have to spend a fortune on. A one-time small investment will save you a lot of money, time, and pressure to find decorations before every event.
In this blog, you will find several ideas to use reusable decorations to make your events snazzier.
Criteria to get the perfect decors
Before we tell you what items you can get, here are a few things you should keep in mind.
Remember, you want to get things that can be reused for at least the next 5 events if not less. Hence, using delicate things such as paper buntings might not be the best idea. If you don’t tear them, they are still going to fade away. The crepe paper used to make these buntings is very thin and poorly inked. Hence, it cannot survive the test of time. In fact, hold paper buntings with a wet hand and you will see the color instantly bleed and the paper melt away in a jiffy – that’s how fragile they are.
Keeping this in mind, balloons might not be your ideal investment either. Latex or rubber balloons are not the best. There is not much argument here, except when have you ever been able to reuse latex or rubber balloons.
The criteria eventually come down to items that stand the test of time, environment, and tape! Yes, we know how much tape is used in hanging decorations.
Party decoration items you can reuse
Here are some of the most vibrant decorations you can keep and reuse.
- Fairy Lights
While fairy lights may not seem to last, getting some of good quality and handling them with care makes them last longer. Consider investing in colorful lights or lights of your choice. You can hang them at all events and give a splash of brightness to your room. Add some other details and each color will shout out loud making your celebratory pictures extra-special. Lights come in different sizes and even shapes. You can also get battery-operated lights. However, remember to take out the batteries before storing them in a cool, dry place.
- Chinese collapsible lanterns
Loose those spirals made out of cardboard and turn them into Chinese collapsible lanterns. These are not your run-of-the-mill lanterns. These are fireless. Made from rice paper usually, these paper lanterns have a collapsible nature and have a metal frame to keep them in place. One of the best things about these is that once you are done using them, you can fold them back and put them to use again.
Chinese lanterns come in several different colors and even shapes. Since they are mainly made of rice paper or like, they are almost translucent. This gives a nice radiant and natural look in your place of event. You can also enjoy these in different sizes. A cherry on top is that these pieces of decorations are also environmentally safer than rubber and latex balloons.
- Foil balloons
Foil Balloons are much more fun, vibrant, and reusable than traditional balloons. There is no argument that they have better designs, prints, shapes, and looks. However, did you know that you can reuse these balloons? A lot of people do not know this and we are here to bust this myth. Simply put the straw in the valve, push it in a little, and press slowly to take out the air. This video will help you understand how you can safely deflate them.
Fold them and keep them in a cool, dry place to have them last longer. Inflate them with helium or air whenever you want to use them, and put them back. While these are not the best for the environment in terms of being bio-degradable, they are certainly better. This is because they are reusable when stored and cared for properly.
- Banners
What is a birthday without a Happy Birthday banner? Event banners are widely available. And if you are anything like the author of this article, then you run for a new one for every birthday. The truth is that these are usually made of hard cards and can be reused. Get a couple of them for birthdays, anniversaries, welcome parties, or even get well soon. When the party is over, simply fold it up and put it in a safe place.
You can choose to get banners made of card or you can opt for foil balloon letters for these events. Read the foil balloon section to help them last.
- Foil curtains
Want to make a photo wall? Don’t work like a headless chicken to make the perfect one. Grab a foil curtain and enjoy the vibrancy that it brings to your pictures. Moreover, they are very aesthetic to the naked eye too.
Grab a couple of colors and store them. You can overlap them as well to mix and match these curtains. To store them, simply fold them vertically and then around a piece of card (or an empty toilet paper roll). Store them safely to use the next time.
Wrap up
Celebrating small and big events in life is not something you should shy away from. Adding some color to life is great too. As we leave you with these amazing ideas, we also leave you with a question. Why do you need to spend a fortune on decorations all the time?
