At some point in life, we have all wished that we could look super stylish and fashionable without having to spend a fortune. Fashion sometimes feels like an exclusive elite club with a hefty membership fee. But what if we told you that you can look like a million bucks every day without breaking your bank? Style on Budget is what you need!

All it takes is a few simple tips and tricks by which you can rock that VIP look whilst staying on a budget. Let’s face it, none of us want to spend hefty amounts of money on fashion trends that will change every few months. And if we are being real, its not even practical. Unless you’re some socialite who needs to attend hi-fi events two to three times a week, you can simply use our guide to work on your ‘expensive’ look without splurging.

Go Monochrome

Monochromes are so in fashion and probably will forever be. Whether it’s eastern style or western, monochrome dresses in all styles are trendy. They have been here for a long time and will stay for a while, say at least another year or two. So, this is the perfect time for you to spend on monochrome dresses. It could be a long shirt with trousers, short shirt with palazzo pants or a basic button-down shirt with same-colored culottes or boot-cut pants. If you notice around, all big international and local brands have solid sets and monochrome dresses. For example, if you spend on a good black or white monochrome dress, it can go a long way. You can style it differently to make it look new every single time. You can take a printed scarf with it, add a belt, jewelry or other accessories. Even if you pick a good local cloth and get it stitched, it will give a really good ‘expensive’ vibe and will last longer in your wardrobe.

Draw Attention to Your Shoes and Bag

Shoes and bags are the best accessories to invest in as they always fit! These don’t have to be neutral or monochromatic. In fact, the biggest designers in the world work with exceptional trendy bags that come in all sizes and colors. Your shoes and/or bag can be your statement piece in your dress that makes it stand out and look like a million bucks. A good pair of shoes and bag is a great investment. If you don’t want to be adventurous to pick our neon or other flashy colors, then go neutral. Pick one classy black heels or shimmery studded silver heels and you’re good to go. You can style them with western or eastern looks, formal or wedding wear. Similarly, bags in neutral colors or even in solid colors are a good investment as it can easily last for years. Trust me, your shoes and/or bag will alone be enough for you to look like a high-class celebrity.

Invest in Neutral Colors

If you think neutral translates to boring, then you’re mistaken. Neutrals are calming, classy and can never go wrong. Do a little exercise: look up at least 5 celebrities, male and female both, on social media and check their latest posts. You will for sure find them in one or more neutral colors. It could be a basic white t-shirt, beige pants or a black blazer. Neutrals look rich and elegant at the same time. The best part is, they are so easy and versatile in terms of styling and make you feel confident.

You can start stocking on neutrals by first organizing your closet and sorting what you already have. Pick out the basics you already have and start pairing them up. You can also do a Pinterest search for neutral combinations that look chic.

Be Flexible with Buying Options

You can either spend big on your clothes and then be versatile with them, or you can be flexible with your buying options and still look good. Yes, I mean go thrifting. If you really want to buy those expensive brands and look like a million bucks, then reconsider your buying options and be open to thrifting and second-hand options. There are a lot of options for second-hand clothes available now and it is the best way to buy something worth hundreds of bucks for 20-30% of its price. But remember, you have to be flexible in your selection as thrifting doesn’t mean a lot of options. You can’t let a perfect piece go just because of a collar style you don’t like. Don’t let a good deal go away.

Another option is the sale rack. You need to keep an eye on big annual sales and stock up on whatever you can find. There are some amazing sales that give up to 70% off on branded clothes. You need to save up for these sales and keep updated so that you don’t miss out. Yes, you need to do the hassle if you want to look like a million bucks. Nothing in life is free; it can be affordable, but not free!

Make or Break Your Outfit with Your Makeup

Your makeup defines you. If you’re a woman, its so important to know how to do makeup and hair according to the event and audience. Keep in mind: your makeup can make or break your entire look. If there’s something we have learnt from makeup artists is the type of makeup looks. A nude look for a day event, subtle makeup for an official event, or dark makeup for a nighttime party. Depending on where you go and what you are wearing, pick the most appropriate makeup look. If you go all funky or experiment with colors, you may not always end up looking classy. Again, Pinterest is a good way to start with makeup looks that go with your clothing.

In the end, the ‘richest’ thing you can do is to own your style and be confident in what you are and what you choose to wear. Your confidence is the most expensive thing you own.
