Keeping any kind of clothes fresh and odor-free in summers is a huge task, especially when you’re living in a hot and humid climate zone. Due to the heat and excessive sweating, clothes can often end up smelling nasty and looking outworn. People usually have only one or two tracksuits and if you are using it for workout or walk, then keeping them fresh in summers can be difficult. Here we have some tips that will help you keep your tracksuit fresh.

Daily Washing and Drying

The most important and obvious thing you need to do is to wash your tracksuit daily. Frequent washing will clean any bacteria or odor left in the clothes. In summers, it’s important to wash your tracksuit after every use. In fact, you can also use fragranced detergents to keep the tracksuit smelling fresh after every wash. Some detergents are specially designed for activewear as they focus on removing sweat odor and hard stains. An after-wash softener is also a good idea for soft and fresh clothes after every wash. Remember, to use cold water to wash your tracksuit as it prevents damage and fading.

Only washing is not important, you also need to ensure that you are air drying your tracksuit instead of using a machine dryer. Leaving the tracksuit under direct sunlight after every wash also helps kills sweat odor, bacteria, and keeping the clothes fresh. However, prevent too much exposure in direct sunlight as that might cause color fading.

White Vinegar and Baking Soda

Some home hacks that you can use to keep your tracksuit fresh is white vinegar and baking soda. White vinegar can be used to rinse the tracksuit before the wash two to three times in a week. This helps neutralize odors and kill bacteria in a cheap way. Baking soda is also another great agent that absorbs sweat and odors from clothes. You can use it by sprinkling it inside the tracksuit between washes.

Anti-bacterial and Fabric Spray

Sprays such as anti-bacterial and fabric sprays are used for clothes to keep them fresh. Pick a good quality anti-bacterial spray from the market to spray on your tracksuit after use, before washing. This will kill the bacteria and combat sweat odor. Secondly, fabric sprays are used for good fragrance and fresh clothes. You can use a fabric spray before wearing the tracksuit for a fresh odor and feel to the tracksuit.

Essential Oils

Essential, organic oils with good fragrances such as lavender, rosemary or tea tree. These oils are natural and have anti-bacterial properties that leave the clothes fresh. You can add few drops to the water in which the clothes will be washed or you can dilute the oil in water and make a spray. Spray the mixture on the clothes before wearing for a pleasant scent and to feel fresh.

Proper Storage

Its important to have a proper storage system for your tracksuit when you are not using it. Even if you are not using it for a couple of days, you need to store it in a well-ventilated area so that they don’t trap odors and moisture. Don’t leave your clothes in your gym bag or store them in a closed space. If they are not properly washed and dried, they may trap moisture and develop mold. You can use breathable storage bags and put a fabric odor bag with it so that they keep smelling fresh. You can also hang an odor bag in the cupboard with the tracksuit.

Personal Hygiene

Well, if you want your tracksuit to stay fresh in summers, then you need to also take care of your personal hygiene. Shower before and after wearing your tracksuit to reduce the amount of stress and body odor transferring to the tracksuit. If you are working out, remember to use an antiperspirant to reduce sweat and odor. Stay hydrated to regulate body temperature. And avoid oily or garlicky foods in summers to reduce the body odor.

Fabric Quality

The last and one of the most important things to do is to buy a high-quality fabric tracksuit. For summers, its so important to choose the right material, even if it’s expensive, so that its durable and lasts longer. Breathable fabrics are best for summers such as cotton to allow your skin to stay cool and airy resulting in less sweat. Avoid synthetic fabrics as they trap moisture and don’t let the air pass. These fabrics are polyester, nylon, and others. Good quality fabrics will last longer and help you stay fresh in summers. These fabrics don’t fade or wear out even when worn and washed daily.

With these tips you can keep your tracksuit fresh and clean all through the summers.
